THE SKY
The theme of the 2017 festival was "Plein Aerial ". Therefore we organized a special program for children.
On March 11, 2017 Almost 500 children from the after school program will sing and form a ‘live painting of Unity’.
This plan was born from the desire to find a creative way to introduce art to kids. Art can give children an attitude of positivism, it can create unity, peace, love, hope, the embrace of diversity and respect for all human, animal and plant life forms. These philosophical “teachings” are all embedded in a playful way in different forms of art: drawing, painting, singing and performing. Working together in unity is also a large part of the skills taught to the kids in this program.
Led by the Youth Orchestra, the children will sing "Wings to Fly" and other songs. After the singing, Curacao Footprint Foundation will educate the children about the Curacao deer. Then the designer of the program, Daniel Dancer, will help the children to form the live painting of the Deer. The Curacao Deer is chosen to stand for this unity and will be made by the bodies of all the kids hurled close together, dressed in happy colored T-shirts, while they sing the songs, dancing freely from East, West, North, and South toward the figure to express the unity of the whole island of Curaçao. Afterward, there will be a contest of paintings of deer, made by the children during an after school program.
